Clatterbridge’s yearly research day is returning this summer with a regional scope – highlighting the very best cancer research from across Merseyside and Cheshire.
The Regional Annual Cancer Research Day 2026 will be a celebration of NHS cancer research, highlighting cutting-edge clinical trials and ground-breaking studies happening at Trusts across the region.
Leaders in their field will give an overview of their expertise, new researchers and clinicians will introduce their work, it will also be a forum for discussion and making new contacts in the cancer research sector, forging and strengthening collaborations across teams and fields.
The day-long event, which is free of charge, will take place in The Spine, in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter on Tuesday, June 30th, with lunch and refreshments included.
The agenda will include talks on novel diagnostics – including hi-tech developments such as AI and wearable technology – and novel therapeutics, with a focus on early phase clinical trials and cancer vaccines.
The event’s theme is ‘Collaboration in Cancer Research’ and partnerships across the healthcare and academic system will be highlighted with a look at how successful collaborations at across Liverpool and beyond are facilitating research studies.
There will be a panel discussion to talk about the event’s topics before a Keynote Lecture by CCC Clinical Oncologist Professor Sun Myint, one of the world's leading experts in the field of contact radiotherapy, about the Papillon treatment he pioneered at Clatterbridge.
Organiser Dr Shaveta Mehta, consultant clinical oncologist and Deputy Director for Clinical research at CCC, said: “This event offers a valuable opportunity to engage with leading experts from across our region, discover translational and early‑phase research, and engage in networking opportunities designed to foster cross‑disciplinary collaboration and improve outcomes for cancer patients. We look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be a stimulating and highly collaborative meeting.”
