Following the release of the results of the NHS Digital Maturity Assessment, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is delighted to have been ranked the an impressive second place out of all acute trusts in England.

The Digital Maturity Assessment (DMA) helps healthcare providers and integrated care boards (ICB) across England to understand their level of digital maturity, identifying strengths and gaps in the provision of digital service for patients and staff. It is a centrally run, annual survey of all NHS Trusts and ICBs that assesses ‘what good looks like’ and compromises of around 160 questions, answered at the highest level.

Digital healthcare is a vital tool in providing the very best service for our patients – everything from patient records and appointments through to prescriptions and IT systems relies on a robust and well managed system to allow us to provide care for our patients and help our teams to do their jobs effectively.

The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre was the highest performing hospital trust in the North West region, ranking top out of the 12 Trusts surveyed, with an overall score of 3.6, scoring particularly highly in pillars such as Well Led, Support Workforce and Safe Practice.

The DMA results aim to promote transparency and support improvements in the adoption of digital resources. The results of the assessment reflects the work of each individual organisation and celebrates achievements whilst also highlighting the need for improvements.

She said: “I’m delighted with our results of the annual DMA; they reflect the hard work of the digital team and the wider organisation and the excellent progress that’s been made.  Whilst this is a self-assessment, a robust validation process has been undertaken with key stakeholders across the organisation.

“I’d like to say a particular thanks to Digital Programme Manager Jeni Bradshaw who has been a driving force behind these impressive results, collating with the subject matter experts.

“This assessment helps us understand where we are currently and where we need to go and we are using the results to guide our overall digital strategy and ultimately improve care. Digital healthcare is a vital enabler, not only to improve the way we operate here at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre but most importantly to improve our interactions with patients.

“As a Trust, we will continue to do all we can to build on these solid foundations and continuously improve our digital experience for both patients and staff.”
