The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre's Medical Director has recorded a video message for patients who may be concerned about Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The short film features Dr Sheena Khanduri explaining what action the Trust is taking to ensure patients' safety and reduce the risk of them catching coronavirus while continuing to care for them during the global pandemic. This is especially important because some types of cancer - and some types of cancer treatment - can mean people are at high risk of becoming very unwell if they catch coronavirus.
To help keep patients safe, the Trust is reducing the need for them to come to hospital by offering phone and video consultations rather than face-to-face outpatient appointments, where appropriate. Clinicians are also reviewing treatments in line with national guidance to assess the benefits versus the risks and to keep patients safe over the next few weeks as the coronavirus pandemic reaches its peak.
In addition to the video message from Dr Khanduri, the Trust has published advice for patients and frequently asked questions on its website. It is also running a coronavirus helpline for patients with further queries or concerns.
