Welcome to our group pre-assessment session. This information is for all patients about to get started on chemotherapy or immunotherapy.

You are about to start chemotherapy or immunotherapy treatment and the purpose of this meeting is for you to be able to understand what the treatment will involve and how the treatment is likely to affect you. We will also provide information on who to contact if you have any queries or issues relating to treatment.

Your individual needs will be discussed and you will have the opportunity to meet other patients in small group settings who will be on similar treatment pathways.

Benefits of group pre-assessment

Participating in group pre-assessment can have many benefits:

  • You will have the opportunity to share your experiences and learn from others in a supportive environment.
  • By sharing your thoughts with others in the group, you will not only be helping yourself, but also offering support to others in the group.
  • By participating, you are actively contributing to the improvement of our services and the overall patient experience.

The aim of the sessions is to help you better understand your treatment plan and how you can manage side-effects you may experience.

What to expect

The session will be conducted in a group setting and facilitated by a Clatterbridge Cancer Centre cancer nurse, in partnership with members of the Maggie’s team.

You will be asked questions about your medical history, current health status, and any concerns you have regarding your treatment plan.

The information you provide will be kept confidential and used only to improve the quality of care we provide to you and others.

You will also have an opportunity to speak to the cancer nurse in private should you wish. You do not have to share any information that you do not wish to share. This is an opportunity to speak openly without judgement or worry and listen to others who may have the same worries as you.

Staff are there to help alleviate some of your worries and stress.
