Clatterbridge staff and patients have been thanked for their commitment to research on International Clinical Trials Day.

The day celebrates everyone who participates and administers clinical research trials across the UK, and The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has thousands of patients taking part in studies that are finding new treatments and ways to better care for people with cancer.

Medical Director Dr Sheena Kanduri, who has filmed a video thanking staff and patients, said: “International Clinical Trials Day is a time when we reflect on the achievements research has brought in improving cancer treatment and care.

“There have been huge medical strides over recent decades, making treatment of many cancers much more successful. We know there is more to do and clinical trials hugely expand our understanding and provide evidence of medical advances.

“But we can only carry out this research through the willingness of participants to be involved with clinical trials and the hard work and dedication of the staff who administer them.

“So, on International Clinical Trials Day, I would like to thank our patients and staff for their commitment to cancer research.”
