Dr Shaveta Mehta has been appointed as Clatterbridge’s Deputy Director of Clinical Research, supporting our research teams in helping to find new treatments and ways of caring for our patients.

Dr Mehta, who joined The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre (CCC) in July 2019, specialises in central nervous system cancers and breast cancers. She is committed to improving outcomes in cancer patients.

As well as being a clinical consultant, she has extensive research experience having been awarded a PhD (Oncology) from the University of Oxford, NIHR academic clinical fellowship and clinical lectureship during her training.

She is principal investigator for many national and international clinical trials and was recently appointed as Associate Research Lead for Cancer by the Clinical Research Network, with overall responsibility for Cheshire and Merseyside.

Dr Mehta said: “I am very pleased to be appointed as Deputy Director of Clinical Research at Clatterbridge as I am passionate about research and strongly believe that co-ordinated research is the only way forward to improve our patients’ experience and outcomes.

“It is a privilege to be part of an energetic research team who are committed to take research forward, improve accessibility of important trials to our patients and bring The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre to the forefront of cancer research in coming years.”
