A consultant oncologist at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has been appointed to a new post to help drive forward innovation at the Trust.
Dr Seamus Coyle, a Consultant in Palliative Medicine, takes up the post of Clinical Lead for Innovation at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust, joining a team which is increasing the number of ground-breaking projects and embedding innovation.
Dr Coyle started his career as a cell and molecular biologist before retraining as a medical doctor. He is also Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the Liverpool Head and Neck Cancer Centre in the University of Liverpool and undertakes research with a special interest in the biology of dying, a project dedicated to understanding the physiology of dying and developing objective processes recognising the dying process.
Dr Coyle will be working with Clatterbridge’s Innovation Manager Drew Norwood-Green, who joined the Trust in early December.
Dr Coyle, pictured below, said of his appointment: “I am really excited at the challenge of this new role and to support the great ideas from the staff within the Trust.”
Dr Sheena Khanduri, Medical Director of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust, said: “It is excellent news that Dr Coyle is taking up this new and important role. Innovation has always been a major part of why Clatterbridge is a world-class cancer centre but Dr Coyle’s appointment will embed this into all areas of work the Trust does.”
