The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has become first site in the UK to open a clinical research trial for patients with an aggressive form of brain cancer.

Patients are being recruited at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust to the BRIOCHe clinical trial, designed by the Leeds Institute of Clinical Trials Research at Leeds University, with the aim to answer the important question about the role of re-irradiation in recurrent GBM.

Clinical Oncologist Dr Shaveta Mehta is delighted that Clatterbridge patients are the first in the country to have the opportunity to join this clinical trial.

Dr Mehta, pictured, said: “BRIOCHe is an important study and we are really pleased to be the first centre in the country to open this study for the benefit of patients.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has helped to establish this clinical trial in such a timely manner – especially during the pandemic.”
