From Tuesday 17 March 2026, patients who log into the NHS App might see some of their appointments at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. This page explains more about which appointments will appear in the NHS App - and, just as importantly, which appointments will not appear in the NHS App.
If you are a patient, it is very important to keep reading the appointment letters and text messages that we send you. This is the only way you can get information about all your appointments at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
The NHS App will also show you which consultant is leading on your care.
What appointments will appear on the NHS App
The NHS App can only show standalone appointments. It cannot show information about a series of appointments - for example, appointments for your chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
The only appointments at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre that will appear on the NHS App are:
- Your first visit to The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre
- Outpatient appointments with your consultant or their team
- Appointments for scans (Radiology)
Your appointment might be described as:
- Clinical Oncology - if your consultant specialises in radiotherapy as well as treatment such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy
- Medical Oncology - if your consultant specialises in treatment such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy
- Clinical Haematology - if your consultant specialises in blood conditions (including blood cancer)
- Radiology - if your appointment is for a scan
What appointments will NOT appear on the NHS App
If you are having treatment it is very important to keep reading the appointment letters and texts that we send you. Many of your appointments will NOT appear on the NHS App. This includes:
- Multiple appointments on the same day. For example:
- Radiotherapy planning appointments
- Same day blood tests
- 'Go ahead' assessments - an appointment to check you are well enough to have treatment
- Appointments for a series of radiotherapy treatments, including your 'on treatment review' appointments with a radiographer
- Appointments for a series of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapy or other cancer drug treatment
- Lymphoedema
- Palliative and supportive care
- Psychological medicine
The NHS App also will not show you any changes to your appointments - for example, appointments that have been rescheduled or cancelled. We will contact you to let you know of any changes to your appointments. Make sure you read the letters and text messages we send to you.
What you need to do
Keep reading the appointment letters and text messages that we send you. Do not rely on the NHS App for information about your appointments as it only shows some types of appointments at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
If you have any questions about your appointment, contact us in the usual way. You can get through to our Administration team by calling our switchboard (0151 556 5000) and choosing option 1.
We are working with the NHS App team so that hopefully more of our appointments will appear there in the future.
