A cancer nurse by background, Liz is driven by a desire to improve the experiences and outcomes of people with cancer and brings this passion to her role as Chief Executive of the specialist cancer centre which provides cancer care and treatment in three main sites – Liverpool, Aintree and Wirral as well as networked chemotherapy services across the region.

Liz said: “The fantastic team at The Clatterbridge treat over 35,000 people with cancer each year with the Charity funding life-saving research, investing in the latest therapies and technologies and improving the experience of people needing our care.

“I’ve climbed Machu Picchu and Snowdon but this will be a massive challenge for me. Over five days I will trek 96 miles from Milngavie to Fort William, around 19 miles a day. I will be trekking through countryside from loch-shores to steep mountains and both myself and the charity will be incredibly grateful for any support received!

“I am extremely proud to work for The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. Every day I am in awe of the work of all staff and the journeys of everyone who comes through our doors for treatment. I am keen to ‘give back’ and support direct investment into the care we provide in any way I can.”

The West Highland Way, crossing stunning landscapes from just north of Glasgow to the Scottish Highlands is a long distance route generally completed in 6-8 days.

Katrina Bury, Head of the Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, said:

“We’re so grateful to all our supporters who continue to support us and The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in being at the forefront of cancer care and treatment.

“Since Liz started her role here in 2018 she has been a keen advocate for us as a Charity and it is obvious how passionate she is about her role, team and the services provided to people with cancer in Cheshire, Merseyside and beyond.

“Good luck Liz!”
