Private Transport and Parking

Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Wirral is situated just off Junction 4 of the M53 on the Clatterbridge Hospital site. From Junction 4 follow the signs for Clatterbridge Hospital. Once in the grounds of Clatterbridge Hospital, Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Wirral is located at the far end of the hospital site.

We advise you to use your own or public transport. The maps will give you directions for getting to the hospital from various locations throughout the Northwest. We have car-parking facilities near all departments, which is free of charge.

The nearest train station is Bebington - on the Merseyrail network
(This is part of the Wirral train line service running from Liverpool to Chester/Ellesmere Port)

The nearest airport is Liverpool John Lennon. There is a direct bus from the airport to Liverpool Bus station, where you can then get a bus to the hospital site.

Private Transport and Parking

Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Aintree is situated adjacent to The Walton Centre NHS Foundation Trust on the Aintree University Hospitals site in Fazakerley, Liverpool. Situated to the northeast of central Liverpool on the A506, close to Junction 6 of the M57, the Centre is easily accessible from the UK motorway network via the M6 and M62.

At the front of the main entrance we have free car parking for Clatterbridge radiotherapy patients during their treatment or clinic appointment. The car park is accessed via a barrier, please push the button as indicated and reception staff will raise the barrier for you.

Public Transport

Bus

Many bus routes travel close to the hospital with stops in Lower Lane and Longmoor Lane please contact Merseytravel for full service details 0870 608 2 608.

Rail

Rail users may travel to nearby Fazakerley Station which has regular service connections to central Liverpool and Kirkby Station. The Longmoor Lane entrance is approximately 100 yards from the station

Ambulances

If you have difficulty getting to your appointment at the Liverpool site, please contact the Transport Department on 0151 556 5000, who may be able to arrange hospital transport for you depending on your circumstances. We will need at least two working days’ notice to do this and we encourage you to use private or public transport when possible.

Chemotherapy Clinics

We are one of the largest cancer centres in the UK – treating more than 28,000 patients each year.

However we recognise that we need to make access to our services and expert staff as easy as possible for our patients. As such, our consultants deliver clinics at various sites close to patients’ homes, in the surrounding general hospitals of Merseyside, Cheshire and the Isle of Man.

Patients are generally referred to us from the hospital where they are receiving, or have received, treatment. Regular appointments with the consultant throughout the duration of the treatment and immediately afterwards are then kept at the same local location.

The specialist nursing teams from the Delamere Day Case Unit at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Wirral also deliver outpatient chemotherapy treatments to our patients at seven other clinics within local hospitals across the region:
