Foreword from our Chair and Chief Executive

Our Strategy 2026 – 2031 builds on the excellent foundation of all we achieved in our last 5 year strategy (2021 – 2026) and reaffirms our commitment to exceptional and compassionate cancer care.

As you might expect, our strategy explains how we plan to make sure The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre continues to deliver outstanding care, visionary research and digital innovation in a collaborative and inclusive way and that we are a great place to work.

But it does not just focus on the care we provide to people referred to us. As a leading specialist cancer centre, we can use our expertise to enhance cancer care at every stage – from early symptoms through to diagnosis, treatment, recovery and life after cancer, or end-of-life care for people whose disease reaches that stage.

Our mission is to transform the lives of people living with and beyond cancer by delivering compassionate, world-class care and advancing groundbreaking research in collaboration with those we serve.

We will do this in partnership with patients and those who care about them. We will work in close, supportive collaboration with our partners across health and social care, research and our local populations. We will be socially responsible and proactive in tackling health inequalities, environmental issues and other challenges.

The strategy was shaped by engagement with staff, patients and our partners on the draft version we shared in May 2026. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took time to share their views and ideas and that feedback is reflected in the final version.

The vision set out in this strategy will be transformed into reality through sound business planning, clear goals, and detailed, well-planned delivery programmes. Together, we will achieve our ambitions and make sure The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre continues to be a beacon of excellence in compassionate cancer care.
