Clatterbridge Diagnostics is a Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) located at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Wirral.
It is a partnership between The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and Wirral University Teaching Hospital.
Clatterbridge Diagnostics was one of the first CDCs in England as part of a national NHS programme aimed at increasing diagnostic capacity.
It is for patients of Wirral who will benefit from earlier diagnostic testing. We will not usually offer you an appointment there as part of your care at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.
It offers the following tests: Blood tests, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-Ray, ECG, ECHO and respiratory tests such as sleep apnoea, FeNO and Spirometry. Some of these services are provided in other buildings on the Clatterbridge Health Park site.

Facilities
There is no café inside the main Clatterbridge Diagnostics building.
There are facilities very close by in Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Wirral and other buildings on the Clatterbridge Health Park.
The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Wirral café is provided by the RVS team serving hot and cold food, drinks, newspapers and confectionary. It is open 8:00am to 4:00pm (08:00-16:00), Monday to Friday.
Vending machines are available inside Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Wirral for drinks and snacks.
Catering is also available in Firtrees Restaurant on the Clatterbridge Health Park site and in other buildings at Clatterbridge Hospital.
Accessible toilets are available. There is also baby-changing facilities.
Wheelchairs are available for patients to use inside the centre.
Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere in the building, in doorways or in the external grounds.
The CDC team cannot look after or supervise children during your appointment.
There are no ATMs to withdraw cash in the main Clatterbridge Diagnostics building.
Free wi-fi is available throughout the hospital.
Parking
Free parking is available for patients at the front entrance to the hospital.
Please show your appointment letter to the parking attendant to access the car park.
The hospital is situated just off Junction 4 of the M53 on the Clatterbridge Health Park site. From Junction 4 follow the signs for Clatterbridge Hospital. Once in the grounds of the Clatterbridge Health Park, stay straight at the mini roundabout and follow the signs for Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Wirral.
There are no electric vehicle (EV) charging points on the Clatterbridge Health Park site, however a charge station is located on the roundabout before entering the site.
A pay car park is available for people visiting the hospital for other reasons e.g. for business.
There are parking bays for Blue Badge holders at the hospital. Wheelchair users travelling with another driver can be dropped off in the ambulance bays at the hospital entrance. Vehicles can pull in to pick up / drop off but are not allowed to wait here.
Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Wirral is well served by public transport. The nearest train station is Bebington on the Merseyrail network (this is part of the Wirral train line service running from Liverpool to Chester/Ellesmere Port). A connecting bus service will take you from Bebington station to the hospital site.
