We follow the Royal College of Radiologists evidence-based indications for the use of PET-CT in the United Kingdom 2022 and their recommendations for cross-sectional imaging in cancer management (i-Refer).
Who can make a referral
All medically-qualified hospital doctors with GMC registration can make a referral for a PET-CT scan. If you are a resident doctor, the consultant in charge of the patient should be identified as being the referrer.
Non-medic referrals from outside The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre are not possible currently.
All referrers must comply with the procedures and criteria set by CCC in accordance with the latest IR(ME)R regulations, and restrictions may be imposed on individuals if these are not followed.
How to refer a patient
Please use the PET-CT request form for referrals to our Liverpool and Wirral PET-CT services and email it to our PET-CT team. Alternatively, referrals can be made via Meditech.
If you wish to amend or cancel a referral it can be done so by email or Meditech.
