Working in Wirral and Liverpool

Currently our main site is Clatterbridge Cancer Centre – Wirral. When we expand and open our new Centre in Liverpool in May 2020 a number of staff will be located in Liverpool.

Our new hospital in Liverpool will be in the heart of a thriving community of medical, scientific and technological innovation and will make a real difference to our patients.

Although the Liverpool hospital will become our main base, we will also continue providing services at our current site in Wirral and our satellite radiotherapy centre on the Aintree site.

Wirral

The Wirral peninsula is a beautiful place – bounded by the River Mersey, the River Dee and the Irish Sea.

In the shadow of the Welsh mountains, it’s an area of outstanding natural beauty with lots of opportunities for enjoying spectacular sunsets, coastal walks, country parks and every kind of sport from cycling and golf to sailing and windsurfing.

The area has picturesque villages; seaside resorts, urban developments and smart towns (including the Victorian splendour of Southport), and the historic cities of Chester, Liverpool and Manchester will provide all kinds of culture, heritage, sport and entertainment.

The schools have an excellent reputation and there are many good quality, registered childcare facilities.

There is easy access to major road, rail, air and sea networks - connecting the peninsula with regional, national and world destinations.

Liverpool

Liverpool has enjoyed lots of investment over the years, transforming the city centre with schemes such as Liverpool ONE development which connect the heart of the city to its historic waterfront. That stunning waterfront – incorporating the world-famous ‘Three Graces’: the Royal Liver Building, the Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building – forms part of the Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In addition to this, Liverpool has one of the largest collections of Grade II-listed buildings outside of London, and also boasts the largest collection of museums and galleries anywhere outside of the capital.

You’ll find most forms of shopping experience in Liverpool or close-by, from major high-street shops at Liverpool ONE, to smaller, specialist independent retailers. There’s also a thriving nightlife in Liverpool, with world class dining and bars to cater for all tastes and ages.

Within easy access of Liverpool and the North West you’ll find areas of outstanding natural beauty including the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales.
