Isolators

The isolators within the pharmacy department are used when preparing sterile chemotherapy products. They are housed within sterile rooms, with only authorised and trained pharmacy staff allowed access to them.

The isolators protect both the operators and the product being made, which is essential as chemotherapy medication is carcinogenic, meaning there is an increased risk of producing cancerous cells.

All staff working in this environment undergo full and comprehensive training, which can take up to 12 months.
