Two new NEDs join Trust Board

Posted 12th December 2019

Two new Non-Executive Directors, Professor Terry Jones and Elkan Abrahamson, have joined our Trust Board.

Terry Jones is a Professor of Head and Neck Surgery at Aintree University Hospital and Director of the Liverpool Head and Neck Centre– the largest NHS / University collaboration for the research and treatment of head and neck disease in the UK. He has successfully designed, managed and completed numerous clinical trials and leads a translational research programme in Human papillomavirus-related oropharynx cancer.

Elkan Abrahamson is a human rights lawyer who represented 20 of the Hillsborough families in the inquest. He is one of Liverpool’s foremost advocates of social justice, having worked as a lawyer for over 30 years, representing some of the most vulnerable and marginalised clients in a number of high profile cases. Elkan was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws from the University of Liverpool in July 2019.

Both Terry and Elkan bring with them a wealth of experience and we are excited about their future involvement and what it will bring for our staff, patients and their families.
