The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has
announced the appointment of Dr Liz Bishop as its new Chief Executive.
Liz, who is currently the Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in London, where she has worked for eight years, will join the Trust on 26 November 2018.
A cancer nurse by background, Liz has also held a number of clinical and managerial positions over the years, including Nurse Consultant, Head of Nursing and General Manager for Oncology at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
Liz is absolutely thrilled to be joining The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, she said: “I’ve met many of the clinical and non-clinical staff and was extremely impressed by their dedication and commitment to delivering a high quality service for people with cancer.
“The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has a strong track record in providing excellent care and leading clinical and translational research. I look forward to working with teams across the whole Trust, and external partners, to continue to improve patient experience and outcomes, grow the research portfolio and ensure a good working environment for staff.”
Liz joins the Trust at an exciting time as it embarks on one of its biggest milestones in its 60 year history – expanding services and building a new state-of-the-art cancer centre in the City of Liverpool.
Phil Edgington, Chair of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, added: “We are delighted to have appointed Liz as Chief Executive of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre. She brings a wealth of NHS leadership experience and I am confident she will take the Trust forward with the support of our committed and talented staff.
“We are entering an exciting chapter in the history of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and the Board and I believe that Liz is the right person to lead us on this journey. I would like to welcome her to the centre and wish her every success in the role.”
