WALK AGAINST CANCER

Walk with Clatterbridge

Lead The Way is an event everyone can take part in, whether it's to celebrate a life, remember a loved one or just enjoy time walking with family and friends.

Walk with us at this 3 mile or 5 mile walk from Crosby Coastal Park to the beach and back (in and around Antony Gormley's famous iron men statues!), and new for 2021 we've introduced a 10 mile walk from Crosby Coastal Park to Formby! You may know this event as Beside the Seaside Walk, but whatever you call it we're set up and ready to go for a fantastic day.

We'll have music and our ever popular Pooch Parade will be returning so there's no excuse to leave any of your family and friends at home, especially the four legged ones! As you head towards the finish line, there'll be a chance to stop and grab a bucket and spade, and add a message of hope to your sandcastle. Also on site this year we have a wonderful seaside-themed photography set-up, get your group together for a photo and capture the memories!

You can begin your walk any time between 09:00 and 10:30 - there will be no mass start due to Covid-19, once you have registered you will begin your walk.

* Please note that the event village may not be full of the usual fun and games due to Covid-19 restrictions and social distancing requirements, but we'll still do everything we can to make sure you have a great time at Lead The Way: Crosby! *

3 Mile Route

The shortest of our three routes, set off from the Event Village at Crosby Coastal Park and hit the Coastal Path once out of the park, turning around just after Crosby Leisure Centre (the Spaceship!) and on to the beach for a lovely stroll along Crosby Beach!

One for the families and the littlest legs.

£6 for adults (18+)

£5 for young adults (16-17)

£3 for children (3-15)

Free for young children (0-2)

*All entry fees go towards the running costs of the event, and we ask you to raise a minimum of £20 per participant (young children excluded) and £50 if there are 3 or more of you, to help the 1 in 2 who need us now, and in the future. Thank you.

5 Mile Route

We’ve taken it up a notch for this one adding two whole miles onto the 3 mile route, so this time you will reach the end of the beach and turn back to then walk the entire length of Crosby Beach!

One for the dog walkers and those with legs a little longer than those walking 3 miles perhaps!

£6 for adults (18+)

£5 for young adults (16-17)

£3 for children (3-15)

Free for young children (0-2)

*All entry fees go towards the running costs of the event, and we ask you to raise a minimum of £20 per participant (young children excluded) and £50 if there are 3 or more of you, to help the 1 in 2 who need us now, and in the future. Thank you.

10 Mile Challenge

We’ve added some serious miles into our traditional walk!

Make your way from the Event Village at Crosby Coastal Park, along the coastal path route all the way to the beautiful Formby Pinewoods and Formby Beach!

Are you up for it?!

£10 for adults (18+)

£7.50 for young adults (16-17)

£5 for children (3-15)

Free for young children (0-2) - the route is not entirely pram friendly so please speak to the event organisers if necessary.

Please ensure that you arrange your return journey. Freshfield Train Station is less than a mile away and will take you directly to Waterloo where you started. Alternatively, please be aware just how busy Formby Pinewoods can get and so parking is often very difficult.

*All entry fees go towards the running costs of the event, and we ask you to raise a minimum of £20 per participant (young children excluded) and £50 if there are 3 or more of you, to help the 1 in 2 who need us now, and in the future. Thank you.

Pooch Parade

Our increasingly popular Pooch Parade will be returning and this year with prizes from our sponsors to be awarded for Clatterbridge Mascot, Ultimate Cutie & Best in Show. The winner of each category will win a super prize for their pooch and all entrants will receive a little gift from Natural Pet Shop, Wirral because all our four legged friends are winners!

Due to social distancing measures still being in place we have had to adapt how the event will be featured this year. Instead of the traditional parade, your Pooch will instead have 1-2-1 time with the judges at the Pooch Parade gazebo, and then have their photo taken by our wonderful pet photographer!

Winners will then be chosen once all dogs have been judged, and the winner will be contacted to collect their prize upon their return from their walk!

Entry into Pooch Parade is £5

Thank you to this year's Pooch Parade Judge, Dawn from Pawsitively Does It and to all of our sponsors, who have kindly donated prizes for this year's Pooch Parade: Crosby
