Grace Prior

Whilst many events had to be cancelled or postponed throughout the pandemic, our Skydive Sunday event was back by popular demand! Determined to do her bit to help, Grace Prior took on the ultimate adrenaline challenge; freefalling at 15,000ft and raising vital funds to help Clatterbridge Cancer Centre continue to provide the very best care possible. Grace's stepdad has been receiving care at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre for more than two years, and thanks to the support of the Clatterbridge staff he was able to witness the moment Grace took to the skies during her incredible Skydive on the 27th September 2020.

"My stepdad has been receiving treatment from Clatterbridge for over two years now, and it has prolonged his life more than we could have ever imagined. We are so lucky to have been given this treatment, so the least I can do is raise as much money as I can to give back to Clatterbridge to keep funding the amazing work they do.

The Skydive Sunday event is a huge challenge, but it's also a once in a lifetime experience that would be a fantastic way to push myself out of my comfort zone. Taking on a Skydive is a huge challenge and I knew that a lot of people would donate if I said I was doing it. I thought that not only would I be able to raise a lot of money, but it’s also a once in a lifetime experience that would be a fantastic way to push myself out of my comfort zone. One of my personal highlights from the Skydive Sunday event was just after the parachute opened up.

I not only felt a sense of achievement from jumping out of a plane, but the view and the feeling was incredible. Words cannot describe how I felt at that point! Also, I've raised over £2,500 for the Charity, which overall is the biggest highlight for me. So far, I have completed a triathlon and the Skydive for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, alongside other fundraisers such as raffles and auctions and I am definitely plan on doing more fundraising in the future, but I need to think of another amazing way I can do it!

The sense of pride and achievement you feel after an event like this is incredible. Not only is it beneficial for you to take part but think of the positive effect you can make to other people's lives. Every penny raised will make a difference to families like mine, so everyone should get involved where they can!"

We would like to say an enormous thank you to Grace for taking on this incredible event and for their continued support. Thanks to their help and support, we can continue to make the hospital a truly special place, helping our patients – young and old – get the best possible care.
