Deb Rothwell

Meet Deb Rothwell; best known for representing Clatterbridge Cancer Charity at almost all of their Merseyside based runs as well as working for the Charity, she is also our poster girl for some of the marathons and running events in our local area and if you’ve ever visited the Charity, you’ll always be greeted with a big smile and lots of support from her.

The past few years haven’t been the best for our running community, but that didn't stop Deb from taking on another mammoth challenge! In October 2020 she decided to take on the Land’s End to John O’Groats Virtual Run, aiming to clock up an enormous 874 miles!

“During lockdown, the majority of sporting challenge events were cancelled so I felt it was even more important to raise funds for Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. I decided to do something that I hadn’t done before, and was possible in daily lockdown life. It was a tough solo challenge without the atmosphere of a live event, but knowing that I am raising money for the Charity definitely kept me going. I have seen many friends and family affected by cancer and I know that Clatterbridge Cancer Charity do some amazing work. Having met some of the patients, relatives and staff I know that every penny counts towards combating this disease and making patients’ experience more positive.”

Phew! Deb had us exhausted just thinking about the event, but she is well known for taking on some incredible challenges, and supporting the Charity. A keen runner, she has also competed in the Liverpool Marathon, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, the Dublin Half Marathon and the London Marathon to name a few. Thanks to her inspirational support, she raised over £2,500 for the Charity. If you’re thinking about taking on a challenge event for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity but you’re still not sure here’s what Deb has to say:

“Whatever age you are, you can push yourself. I would encourage anyone to find a challenge – particularly at the moment – and help Clatterbridge Cancer Charity give the

best care possible to patients. It could make a massive difference to someone you know and love."

We would like to say an enormous thank you to Deb for all of her continued support, and if you'd love to take part in a challenge event for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity, take a look at our selection here or get in touch with us at or 0151 556 5566.
