We know 2020 has been a challenge for so many people, and while COVID-19 has been a threat to us all, it has also impacted cancer services across the country. The pandemic has sadly resulted in a significant reduction in people being referred for urgent cancer treatment, and it is believed that millions of people have missed cancer screenings since March. However, our team at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has done some incredible work to keep our patients and staff safe, including opening the first ever cancer hospital in Liverpool.

This year we need your support more than ever, which is why we have launched our Christmas Fairy Appeal, a special celebration for our patients, their loved ones, our supporters and staff. A time to celebrate those dear to us while supporting the amazing work of The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre.

Throughout December hundreds of fairies, designed by world-renowned artist Emma Rodgers, will be displayed on Christmas trees at our centres in Liverpool, Wirral and Aintree, each one representing someone special. For every donation to the Fairy Appeal, we will place a symbolic Fairy on one of our trees.

You can also name or dedicate one of our Virtual Fairies to someone special, which will feature on our Virtual Christmas Tree. There are many different reasons why you may choose to dedicate a Fairy, it could be in memory of a loved one, to say thank you to a member of staff who supported you or your family or friends at the hospital, or to celebrate the special people in your life.

For a donation of £20 or above, you can choose to dedicate a Fairy, which will appear on our virtual tree too for everyone to see. You will also have the opportunity to receive a special lapel badge or a limited edition Fairy decoration – created by the artist - to display at home.

Your support for this year’s Fairy Appeal will help us to continue to make a vital difference to the lives of cancer patients by ensuring that our frontline staff , our key workers and our research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments.
