School Accumulator Challenge

We are inviting your school to join us and compete against other schools and colleges from across the region to become the Challenge Champions of 2020!

How does it work?

We’re challenging you to raise as much money as possible to help us fund the new Teenage & Young Adult Unit in the hospital. This is a joint fundraising initiative between The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity & The Bloom Appeal, and we need your help!

We’ll give you plenty of ideas and support along the way. As long as your fundraising activities are safe and legal, you can be as creative as you want! From leg waxing to sky-diving, cake baking to walking 10,000 steps per day, we’ll be on hand to offer you all the ideas and support you need. At the end of the term we will celebrate your achievements in our brand new shiny hospital.

Sophie's Story

Sophie has been treated by Clatterbridge and explains how important it is for our young people to have access to the very best care that they need and deserve…

"When a teenager or young adult is diagnosed with cancer their whole life is put on hold. They may not be able to see friends or go to social events; education can be affected, and any plans to travel and see the world are put on hold. So it's vital that when they are in hospital they feel safe and still in control of their life, which is what teenage and young adult facilities can offer.

Single rooms allow young patients to retain their independence, whilst social spaces allow them to mix with other patients who are a similar age. They can share experiences and advice, or if they prefer, they can stay in their own rooms and be visited by family, friends, boyfriends/girlfriends in private. These facilities are needed to remove that dreaded hospital experience that many newly diagnosed young people may fear."

Why join in?

This challenge is a perfect opportunity for your students - improving self-esteem and confidence, and enabling them to build on existing skills. But, most importantly, you’ll be helping us to transform cancer care for future generations.

All the money you raise will help to establish the Teenage and Young Adults (TYA) unit within the new hospital.
