The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity are delighted to bring to you Challenge Cancer Cycle once again as we cycle to transform cancer care in our region. The charity has hosted a cycling event for the previous nine years and we are excited to bring back Challenge Cancer Cycle for the second time, and our tenth cycling event in total, after a wonderful year one event in 2019! Unfortunately 2020 fell foul of the Covid pandemic, however we are ready and raring to go for 2021! Following the event in 2019, we have adjusted the 75 mile route and turned it into an 80 mile route, with a change to the route in the 80 mile only section.
If you registered in 2020, your place is secure with the Charity for this event and will be contacted by the Charity soon.
We have secured the iconic Aintree Racecourse once again as the venue for you to start and finish from. Aintree Racecourse makes for the perfect venue as we go straight from town to countryside within a mile or two of setting off!
25 Mile Route
For those looking to take on their first cycling event, or those simply looking to get out on their bike after a while, why not join us and raise funds to Challenge Cancer with The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. There are one or two hills thrown in for you to take on; with a total elevation gain of 1,021ft you will feel proud and delighted upon reaching the finish.
40 Mile Route
Looking to make that next step up? Our 40 mile route is perfect for you! With the hills surrounding Parbold in your sights, you will take on an elevation gain of 2,162ft as you make your way around our specially created route.
80 Mile Route
Now for the big one! Do Parbold & Rivington sound like the sort of challenge you are looking for in 2021? We have 4,649ft worth of elevation gain in this route, offering you a challenging cycling route as we work together to challenge cancer in 2020. For 2020 we have increased the mileage on this route from 75 to 80 miles, these additional miles are in the middle section of your ride.
"I was honoured to be able to ride this course for The Clatterbridge Cancer Charity. The route has something for everyone and has some great climbs including the iconic ‘Sheep House Lane’ climb from the Ironman UK course, and some fantastic descents too. I’m really looking forward to taking part again in 2021.”
Steve Bishop, from Be Aware For Clare
