We gave a very warm welcome to our new doctors in training who started at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre this week with a three-day induction from Wednesday 7th August.
This year we have welcomed around 20 new doctors in training, from F1s to specialty and GP trainees. Depending on their training programme, they will be with us for anything from three months to five years and we hope they really enjoy their time here at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, and get everything they are hoping for from it.
We listen carefully to feedback from doctors in training who rotate into The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and, in 2022, we introduced an extended three-day induction. It has been specifically designed by our Medical Education team, headed by our Director of Medical Education, to ensure doctors feel confident and fully supported from the start of their rotation.
The doctors who joined on Wednesday were welcomed by our Medical Director Dr Sheena Khanduri and a variety of other speakers during a comprehensive initial induction day, organised by the Medical Education and Medical Workforce teams.
In addition, our ST3+ clinical and medical oncology registrars receive a four-week introductory period, in line with NHS England's Gold standard for induction. This means they get plenty of time shadowing senior registrars in clinic and in services, plus further introductory teaching, before the full registrar programme starts in September.
