Staff at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre have rated their workplace in the national NHS staff survey and once again performed exceptionally well, scoring above the sector averages in all themes. 71% of staff completed the survey, compared to the national average of 50%. The highest score was for compassion and inclusivity and we received the best score nationally for several team-working questions including being respected by colleagues and enjoying working with colleagues.

The NHS Staff Survey is one of the largest workforce surveys globally, with scores based on staff responses related to the seven themes of the NHS People Promise plus two additional themes of staff engagement and morale. Our overall 2024 scores are benchmarked against other specialist acute trusts in England.

Jayne Shaw, Director of Workforce and Organisation Development said: “Once again we have shown excellent performance compared to our sector thanks to the consistent efforts of all of our staff.

“The data shows that our staff are kind to each other and work well together in teams – we received the best score nationally for several team-working questions and this is an amazing testament to their commitment and respect for each other.

“It's reassuring to note that 89% of staff would be satisfied with the standard of care we provide if a friend or relative required treatment.

“We also saw a significant rise in the scores in staff saying that the ‘care of patients / service users is my organisation’s top priority’ and that ‘my organisation acts on concerns raised by patients / service users’.

“In an incredibly challenging time for the NHS, our results show we are responding well to current challenges, continuing to improve the experiences of our staff and achieving our ambition to be a great place to work. 73% of staff said they would recommend us as a place to work.”

“We have a team of amazing people here at CCC, doing their very best for patients and colleagues every day. It’s great to see we’re supporting them to achieve their best.”
