The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre welcomed consultants to its annual Consultant Away Day event this week, celebrating and reflecting on the achievements of the Trust over the past year.
The theme of the event was Clatterbridge for the Future. Opening the event with a presentation on horizon scanning was Professor Peter Clarke, the NHS's Clinical Lead for Cancer Drugs and former Clatterbridge Medical Director.
Delegates also saw presentations on the future of our research from Chair of the Clinical Research Committee for Cancer Research UK, Professor Tim Maughan, alongside CCC Consultant Clinical Oncologist, Dr Shaveta Mehta.
These were followed by talks on our advanced in AT technology, a discussion on the value of Schwartz Rounds in maintaining positive wellbeing, and an insight into the experiences of doctors of the future, from trainee doctor, Dr Alex Batty.
The event was concluded with the annual Consultant Away Day Awards, which acknowledged the outstanding work of our consultants in our key clinical areas - Radiation Services, Networked Services and Acute Care.
