In July, our Clinical Education department hosted colleagues from across the North West and beyond at the Cancer Care Conference in Liverpool, the second annual event the team have hosted.

Delegates listened to presentations about innovations in cancer care from teams at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and other NHS and care organisations. The conference was open to anyone whose role involves treating, caring or supporting people affected by cancer.

The session was opened by Chief Operating Officer at The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre, Joan Spencer, who welcomed everyone to the conference, followed by Patient Experience and Health Inequalities Programme Manager for Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance, Jo Trask, who led a thought-provoking discussion about how we can help to reduce inequalities and barriers to cancer screening services.

Other speakers included:

Tracy Rogers, Macmillan Community Navigator, Kirkby PCN - Cancer Care Navigators - Their Role in Providing Personalised Care

Paula Cassidy, Additional Needs Practitioner, CCC, and Bob Waites, Cheshire and Wirral Partnership - Supporting Those with Additional Needs Through Cancer Treatment

Jo Smith, Nancy Whittaker and Lucy Holmes, Macmillan and One Wirral CIC - Integrated Personalised Care on the Wirral – in partnership with Macmillan

David Hamilton, Consultant Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery & Honorary Senior Lecturer, Newcastle University, Freeman Hospital - Is Effective Patient Involvement in Complex Team Decisions an Impossible Task?

Sam Griffiths, Jane Kean, Lorraine Soudani, CCC - Financial Support in Cancer Care - How Do We Reach People at Their Point of Need?

Jen Kelly and Megan Hayes, Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance - Personalised Stratified Follow Up (PSFU) After Cancer Treatment and Psychosocial Support for Those Living With and Beyond Cancer

The Clinical Education team work incredibly hard in organising this event for the local healthcare community,  ensuring its programme showcased diverse and interesting topics, which are very well received by attendees.

The Clinical Education team would like to thank everyone who attended the event, gave presentations and submitted posters.
