Into the future
Life has changed dramatically since the early days of the hospital in 1958.
Today The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has over 1,000 dedicated people providing an unrivalled service for patients and their families. It has many visitors from the UK and beyond, and is extending its influence and reputation with presentations, publications and teaching.
Cancer services remain at the top of our nation's health agenda. With its new treatments and discoveries, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is at the forefront of cancer treatment, and support for those affected by it.
Our plans for the future include developing more services closer to patients’ homes and communities, following the example of our Liverpool Cancer Centre, and in line with requests from the Government and cancer charities.
Proposals to develop a comprehensive cancer centre for Merseyside and Cheshire will see The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre services expanded further with the development of a new £118m hospital adjacent to the new Royal Liverpool University Hospital building by 2018 –Transforming Cancer Care in Merseyside and Cheshire. The Wirral site will continue to provide chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments for outpatients.
