Life has changed dramatically since the early days of the hospital in 1958.
Today The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre has over 1,200 dedicated people providing an unrivalled service for patients and their families. It has many visitors from the UK and beyond, and is extending its influence and reputation with presentations, publications and teaching.
Cancer services remain at the top of our nation's health agenda. With its new treatments and discoveries, The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre is at the forefront of cancer treatment, and support for those affected by it.
Our plans for the future include developing more services closer to patients’ homes and communities, following the example of Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Aintree, and in line with requests from the Government and cancer charities.
Proposals to develop a new comprehensive cancer centre will see The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre services expand into central Liverpool by 2020. Our new hospital is part of an exciting £162m programme of capital investment to expand and improve cancer care in Cheshire and Merseyside. As part of the programme we will also invest in our current sites in Wirral and Aintree, both sites will continue to provide outpatient cancer treatments.
